A website chat that reads along
IDP's website chat answers in your store's colors, shows real cars, books in the conversation, talks by voice, and follows what the visitor is reading, so its invitation is about that, not a generic hello.
"Hi! How can I help you today?" is the most ignored sentence on the internet. It pops up on every page, says nothing about the page, and gets closed before it's read.
IDP's website chat starts from what the visitor is doing. When your site says which section a visitor is reading, the chat's invitation changes to that: the oil change special, the gray Outlander SE, the trade-in form. When they open it, the conversation leads with what they were reading.
You're looking at it now. The chat on this page runs on IDP, and as you read this post, its invitation is about the website chat.
The invitation follows the reader
Each section of your site can name the catalog item it's about: a vehicle, a service special, a department. Once a section has held the middle of the screen for a moment, the chat's invitation changes to that item's own line ("Questions about the gray Outlander SE?"). Above the first section, the page's own invitation shows.
On phones, the invitation steps aside once the visitor scrolls on, so it never sits on top of what they came to read. A chat they open still leads with what they were reading.
When the visitor opens the chat from an item, the agent offers that item's question once, then your own starter questions. The shopping questions, and a "Great pick" greeting, are kept for items with a price.
A sales and service desk on every page
- Your store's look. The chat answers in your colors, with your agent's name and your logo, and stays readable on light brand colors.
- Real cars. Vehicles come from your inventory, with photos, prices and links.
- Booked in the conversation. The agent reads live openings and books, and the booking shows as a ticket with its status, date and time and an Add to calendar button.
- Voice in the chat. A visitor can switch to talking with the same agent, and the microphone is used only while they talk.
- Buttons on your site. Your own "Ask a question" or "Book service" buttons can open the chat, with a question already asked.
It installs through Google Tag Manager, and the same agents answer Facebook Messenger and Instagram.
Your catalog, as a file
What the chat can show (vehicles, specials, services, the questions each one raises) lives in your catalog. You can import and export it as a file, so updating forty specials doesn't mean forty forms.
Smooth when it matters
A chat that stutters feels broken. IDP's chat moves smoothly while the agent thinks, works and answers, keeps the start of a long answer in view, and keeps waiting while a slow reply is still being written, instead of claiming the connection dropped.
Why it matters
A website visitor is the warmest lead you'll get all day, and the least patient. An invitation about exactly what they're looking at, and an agent that can answer and book on the spot, is the difference between a conversation and a closed tab.
Questions about this? The agent on this page runs on IDP. Ask it anything here, or how it would work at your store.
